Have you ever had a very vivid (almost lucid) dream about a place you’ve never been and one that you’re not even sure exists as a real life location? But you explore it in your dreams and are convinced you will and must find it?! Ushuaia, Argentina was this uncanny place for me.
I’ve always been a seeker of offbeat, unheard of, and sometimes all it takes is seeing an image of a location and suddenly I have an undying urge to investigate the location. Call it intuition or call it fate, I often find my way to these locations and I am never disappointed in the secret adventure wedding locations I stumble upon! It’s incredibly exciting!
Since I spend most of my time at the token “top of the world” planning adventure weddings in Iceland and throughout the other amazing Nordic countries, I thought it might be a brilliant change to start off 2016 at the bottom of the world, in the most southern city in the world: Ushuaia, Argentina. You’ve probably never heard of it so please allow me today to introduce you to this unspoken beauty!
First question… How do you get to the end of the world city, Ushuaia? There are direct flights into Ushuaia, Argentina (airport code: USH) and then it is best to rent a car. But! If you’re looking for a driving adventure you can fly into the main airport in Patagonia in Punta Arenas (airport code: PUQ), rent a car (Tip: Ensure it has the correct border crossing paper work before leaving) and then start a 1 hour trek to the border between Chile and Argentina.
You’ll need to take a cargo ferry in between (which you just show up and pay once you’ve boarded the ferry). Once off you’ll have another 2.5 hour drive to the the Chilean/Argentina border (make sure you stamp out of Chile before you head to the Argentinean border). We found an amazing amount of gorgeous secret locations and tons of guanacos along the way which made it such a fun drive!
When we arrived in Ushuaia, I was overwhelmed by the beauty, charm, and the amount of this amazing Patagonia wedding locations in and around this little town tucked in in mountains! I. Was. In. Heaven.
For you adventure seekers that love to hike and explore, there are endless options for you in Ushuaia! There are short 30 minute to longer 2+ hour hikes within the Tierra del Fuego National Park that will allow you to experience the most Southern tip of the Andes Mountains and the famed Beagle Channel.
The landscape in Ushuaia is unique full of interesting textures and tones. There are unforgettable mountain views, earthy swamps, bridges made from wood planks, waterfalls, jungles, emerald lagoons, incredible cliffs, and beaches!
There are also two of the most amazing hotels I’ve ever stayed also in this area of Ushuaia, Argentina! They can easily accommodate a dreamy Patagonia elopement or a large 100+ wedding in Ushuaia with all of the North American 4-5 star hotel amenities we know and love.
So whether you plan on coming to the bottom of the world for a romantic getaway, to elope or hold your wedding in Patagonia, I would love to show you the amazing locations we have in our portfolio! Please contact us for more information! In the meantime, enjoy the gorgeous images below and explore Ushuaia, Argentina a little bit with us!
