“Important encounters are planned by the souls long before the bodies see each other.”
Meeting Davíð Geir Jónasson, changed the course of my life forever.
Do you remember how we met? In that moment, as clique as I know it sounds, I knew my life wouldn’t be the same again. Seriously, in all of the millions of people I have met, never have I ever met someone like Davíð. He looks at me the way all women want (and deserves) to be looked at by a partner. I’ve never laughed harder, never travelled farther around the world with anyone and still left smiling by the end of it. To put it raw and frankly, I’m addicted to him. His energy, book to street smarts, risky wit, infinite positivity and the way he brings out the best in everyone he encounters. He adventures at the same level as me (some might even say higher and I might agree).
So where does an Adventure Wedding Planner / Photographer and a Filmmaker get married? Well… We eloped in the Lofoten Islands (Northern Norway). Have you ever heard of these islands before? If not, go HERE and read up on them!
The shapes, the tones, the textures of the vivid mountains of the Lofoten Islands cannot be found anywhere else in the world. They come chock full of mystery and unforgettable romance. So come along with me today as I, my super talented friend (and colleague) Jean Smith and her brilliant cinematographer husband Travis Smith share with you the unbelievable documentation from our Lofoten Islands wedding day.
With a smile, Ann Peters + Team (Lofoten Islands Norway Wedding Planners)

Coming all of the way from Australia, Shea and Danielle desired to have an elopement unlike anyone else’s. Good thing they came to us! Did you see the first half of their Norway elopement we shared last week? If not, please go back HERE to see their beautiful Norway wedding ceremony in a stunning stave church and Norway wedding reception styled perfectly for two at a fairytale hotel called The Dalen.
The rest of their amazing adventure was spent hiking to see incredible fjord views, secret waterfalls, discovering sweet caves, and a ride on a riverboat down the historic Telemark Canal! I’m excited for you to join us today to relive their epic adventure…

When two extremely adventurous people meet while out on a daring expedition, only good things come from it. Consequences of such meetings usually include endless laughs, incredible moments in time, and smiles that make your cheeks hurt. And if you’re tremendously lucky, you walk away with a new forever friend. Fortunately, in the story of Danielle and Shea not only are all the above true, but they also found their soulmates in each other. These two met while hiking in Nepal. Seriously! …and they both just happened to be living in the same area of Australia! Mean to be, right?!
So naturally after they had more journeys exploring the world together, they were searching for astounding elopement locations and a way to elope that would be very different than the typical avenues. Danielle and Shea first reached out to us inquiring about an elopement in Iceland on Iceland Wedding Planner. Shortly after we met on Skype and seeing we own Your Adventure Wedding, they were hooked on the adventure wedding concept we provide. Torn between having a wedding in Iceland or Norway was tough but in the end, Norway won. They fell in love with the Dalen Fairytale Hotel option we created for their elopement in Norway.
Have you ever seen or been to the Dalen Fairytale Hotel? It’s one of the oldest, fanciest, charming, and most notable hotels in Norway. A place where Kings and Queens choose to stay at frequently. The first time I visited years ago and pulled up to the front of the hotel I immediately felt like I was walking into a storybook. As you’ll see from the Norway wedding photos below, it’s a very vivid and intoxicating place that sits along the historic Telemark Canal fjord.
There are too many beautiful images I want to share with you from their 10+ locations we ventured to throughout their adventure wedding in Norway, so you’ll be happy to know I’m splitting their fabulous day into 2 posts. This week we will feature all the awesomeness we created in and around the Dalen Hotel, their Stave Church Norway wedding ceremony and a another secret spot. Next week, stay tuned for the bulk of Shea and Danielle’s Norway wedding adventure photos where we discover more secret waterfalls, a cave, and take an adventure in a riverboat down a beautiful historical canal!

When you think about Norway, what vibe or elements come first to mind? Maybe one of these…
Red Fishing Houses
Liz and Mike hold adventuring and traveling together high on their #couplesgoals. They live their lives based on unforgettable experiences, not just moments in time. Traveling educates them, opens their minds, and brings them closer together on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis. Over the years they have allowed their journeys to shape their personalities individually but also continue to keep their relationship new and exciting. One country that they both found themselves always marveling over was Norway. So it was only natural that after Mike proposed they have never-ending lifetime adventures together, they would set out to plan a wedding in Norway.
They contacted us over a year ago to plan their Norway destination wedding. They were hoping to be in the middle of the true essence of Norwegian countryside. So after reviewing some really kickass options we cooked up for them to consider for the Norway wedding, they decided the Geirangerfjord area was the right fit. The fabulous Hotel Alexandra would act as our Norway wedding base.
Have you ever heard of or stayed the Hotel Alexandra in Loen, Norway? You should! I’ve stayed at a lot of a hotels being an Adventure Wedding Planner and Photographer and this hotel has infinite potential for weddings, luxury relaxation, and they are currently constructing a very unique experience at the top of Mount Hoven. They are building a cable car lift system that will take you to the top of the mountain (which was previously only accessed by a very long hard via ferrata hike) for an epic view and 5-star dinning. This experience is set to open in May of 2017, keep your eyes peeled and put it on your Norway wedding or honeymoon bucket list!
Back to Liz + Mike and their gorgeously sweet details… Can I get a little swoon swoon over the vow books, Norway wedding dress, the boots, ring box, and the bouquet?!
As unique as Mike and Liz’s relationship is, they wanted to hold a ceremony that brought in those elements and also interacted with their guests who travelled so many miles in from California. The Norway wedding ceremony began with the bride and groom parting ways at a beautiful inlet from the nearby fjord, the groom walked over a sweet little bridge and the bride made her grand entrance down a gorgeous red carpet.
The Norway wedding celebrant began the ceremony by inviting each of the guests to hold the bride and grooms wedding rings in an intimate ring warming ceremony. While holding the rings, each guest was asked to think of a positive wish for the bride and groom. It was beautiful.
