Kavoos and Diana, had the burning desire to hold an adventurous elopement in Lapland! Which is quite brave considering they are California natives and during winter northern Finland is well below freezing. But sometimes a location and the opportunity to see Northern Lights is all it takes to muster up courage to have an epically snowy incredible experience!
During the months of December and January, Lapland is in full swing of “polar nights,” which means the sun doesn’t actually rise and the “blue light” daylight hours are between 1-2 hours a day. Our adventure wedding planning team, crafted an epic adventure wedding day at the Kakslauttanen Igloo Resort (the famed igloo hotel).
But! Since there adventurous elopement in Lapland was so BEAUTIFUL… we need break it into 2 blog posts! So today we will share with you their stunning ceremony and first half of their adventure wedding. Then stay tuned next week for the second and most adventurous half (hello dog sledding, styled reception for two, and reindeer Northern Lights hunting!).
With a smile, Ann Peters + Team (Lapland Wedding Planner + Photographer)
Kakslauttanen Igloo Resort offers a uniquely beautiful experience in the Kelo-Glass Igloo Cabins! Imagine waking up in one of these for our adventurous wedding in Finland! Kavoos and Diana did during their elopement adventure in Lapland and savored every second of it!
The Polar Nights in Lapland are an amazing sight! although the sun doesn’t not rise, if it’s clear, you get a “mock”sunrise like this during the beginning of January! So dream for your Finnish elopement!
These two would make any Finland wedding photographer swoon! So in love!
Just because you decide to elopement, does not mean you should skimp on the details! How stunning is this Lapland wedding ceremony setup?!
Ohhhh these petals!!! My favorite shade of PINK! Thanks Flyboy Naturals!
A glas teepee makes such a beautiful Lapland wedding ceremony location!
Northern Lights wedding photos can always be possible during a Lapland winter wedding!
The Lapland wedding image below might go down as one of my top FAVORITE images, ever! So much snowy goodness and beauty!

When I caught the travel bug, one of the first countries I spent an extended amount of time in was in Southern New Zealand. For a thrill seeker like me, it was the mecca of adventure.
Specifically, in the South Island, I found to be a place that I could do a skydive at sunrise, be bungee jumping into a canyon before lunch, ice climbing or heli-skiing on a glacier in the afternoon, and then choose to either go on a hike or wine tasting at night. It had everything, I ever wished for. Throw in some cool caves, waterfalls, pristine beaches, unforgettable lush hikes, and landscapes that went on for days and I was in the epitome of happiness!
When you think dynamic landscape and endless adventure options for your destination wedding adventures, I sure hope New Zealand is on that list!
One of my obsessions to it has always been that the landscape is so diverse no matter the season. This fun fact makes New Zealand an ideal destination wedding adventure location! Can you imagine yourself getting married in New Zealand in one of the following locations?
Having a New Zealand adventure wedding or elopement will have everyone back home swooning in jealousy! We would love to help customize some EPIC NZ adventure wedding options for you throughout the North and South Island of New Zealand. Please contact us for more information on how to get started!

Adventure was born and lives in Patagonia, no joke folks! Specifically, it resides in the Torres del Paine National Park. Have no idea where that is? Picture: South America, then find your way to Chile, and then down the Andes Mountains to the most southern section of Chile and Argentina… Then you’ll find yourself in the formal region of Chilean Patagonia in the midst of the Torres del Paine Park!
Once in the Torres del Paine National Park, you’ll find something totally intoxicating and borderline addicting about seeing the different angles of those famed granite “W” mountain peaks, the mysterious Grey Glacier, and the wild feeling of freedom that fills this park. Not to mention the endless amounts of wildlife like, Guanacos (alpacas), Ostriches, Flamingos, Pumas, Foxes, Armadillo, and Condors flying around which all help add to the enchantment.
The moment we arrived at one of the park entrances, we were greeted by a gorgeous guanaco and boy was he playful as you’ll see below!
The entire park is weaved together by gravel roads which adds to the charm as the wind blows the dust around. Adventure junkies from around the world come to cross off their bucket lists the the challenging 3, 7, or 10 day trek around the Torres del Paine National Park.
The main areas that make up the “W” mountain hiking trip are as follows: Glacier Grey, The French Valley, and the Base of the Torres (the 3 towers) overlooking the stunning Torres Lagoon.
So but of course adventurous couples from around the world should also find their way here, to hold an incredible Patagonian Destination Wedding, Whimsical Elopement in Patagonia, or have their unforgettable Honeymoon in Patagonia! I mean because how fun would it be to get married atop of the ridges with these famed Chilean Patagonia mountains as your backdrop?
Patagonia Weddings are ideal for you extreme sports enthusiasts or avid travelers! You can camp your way through it or go the luxury route and stay in hotels and/or refugios and we are thrilled to help you decide which would be ideal for you, please contact us for more information!
I’m a glacier lover personally, so give me some crampons, ice, and gorgeous view and I’ll be set for the day =) One of my favorite things about Patagonia’s Torres del Paine Grey Glacier is the opportunities to experience the glacier on many levels. You have the glorious option of taking a boat ride to skim the edges (for you lower intensity adventure seekers), if you’re a middle of the road adventure seeker than there is a fantastic hike you can do to get to the viewing point you’ll see below. There you will see the glacier, beautiful mountains, and the glacier lagoon with pieces of ice that have broken off from the glacier. For you high intensity adventure wedding seekers, there is two more opportunities for you… Kayaking around and then climbing onto the Grey Glacier. Exciting stuff, right?!
Further into the park you’ll find a few secret waterfalls with incredible 360 views attached to them! Incredible dynamic area… One of my favorites to hold your epic wedding in Patagonia!
Patagonia Wedding Locations can actually come with some really amazing historical elements too believe it or not! Like holding your Patagonia destination wedding or elopement in a cave where the incredible creature once lived 10,000 years ago! Dreamy!
The list of Patagonia wedding locations within the Torres del Paine are endless for you adventure seekers. So I invite you to enjoy the rest of these stunning Patagonia Wedding location images! They are just a few we are publicly sharing, we have many more stunning secret wedding locations. So please contact us if you’re interested in planning a Patagonian Destination Wedding or running away to elope in Patagonia! We’d love to hear from you, contact us!

21 countries, 10 states, and 6 islands were conquered this year.
…and today I write you from the “bottom of the world” in Ushuaia, Argentina. Did you know it is the furthest most Southern city in the world. I find it slightly ironic since my business first started at the token “top of the world” in the Nordic countries. It seems only fitting I begin my best year yet here at the bottom!
As many of my weekly followers know, 2015 was a big year of changes for me personally and also professionally. But taking a big bird’s eye view back over the last several years (and maybe you will to?), I sit for a moment, smile and am reminded at how different each year has been for me as well. Different in gratitude, grace, in mission, and adventure. I am addicted to it, crave it, live it daily, and breathe adventure every day in my life and in my career. When those two things aligned, my life changed to purely positive. I learned how to love, live in the moment, embrace my passions, found where there is a will there is always a way, and a renewed respect and admiration for people and cultures, I frankly didn’t know was possible.
I committed to myself after my divorce was finalized in January 2015, I very would very bravely pack up everything I own, put it in a storage unit, and leave the USA to travel for a year in order to bring my Adventure Wedding concept to life. I did and I have absolutely no regrets (even after flipping a car in Galloway, Ireland) as I come to the close of 2015. The things I have seen, tasted, and experienced, I could write for years on (and I will, so please follow Your Adventure Wedding). The new offbeat locations I have brought into my destination wedding planning repertoire are unbelievable! Did you see my travel schedule I posted? That was just a simple taste as to what I have planned… if you know me, you know I get down and offbeat, not mainstream tourism! My travels continue on into 2016 and I will continue to live out of only 3 suitcases and a purse =) It’s a lifestyle I have come to love and embrace whole heartedly with all my being.
Follow me on Instagram to see daily updates and/or inspiration!
Additionally, I am incredibly thankful to the couples who trusted me in 2015 to plan and forever document their Iceland weddings and elopements (and locations beyond), it was so amazing to be a part of history with you! No one can rock out rainy, snowy, and cloudy weddings with a smile, like you! I have the best most hardcore clients ever, THANK YOU for being so badass! …and to my fabulous couples upcoming in 2016 and 2017, you have challenged me and more importantly, trusted me to step it up a notch and plan some indescribably unique things in some incredible places, I heart you!! THANK YOU and I look forward to making it the best year yet!!
To my amazing partners all over the world… Without you I wouldn’t be able to rock out adventure weddings in some of the most obscure locations people told me weren’t possible! Thank you for supporting and running with me in my crazy awesome visions! I’m really excited to having you as part as our “A-Team” of vendors as we change the way the world views destination weddings!
So, I left you a little teaser from last week’s Christmas Eve post about some big news, right?! In an effort to continue our mission of leading the change in the destination wedding industry to equal Adventure Weddings… I’m happy to announce that we have officially opened up our South American market! If you’re an outdoorsy couple who loves to hike, be in the middle of epic landscape scenes, and be completely awed by nature then allow me to introduce you to the underrated: Patagonia.
….wondering where it is?
Patagonia sits within the Andes mountain range in Southern sections of Chile and Argentina. This is also where the mysterious and most intriguing “W” trek of mountains live and breathe. There are volcanoes, lakes, rain-forests, glaciers, fjords, caves, penguins, bird watching, endless mountain views, and so many unique experiences to be had, you will not be able to sit patiently still! We would love to chat more with you about this location being your unforgettable destination wedding location, please contact us for more information and if you’re up to the challenge of being the first!
Every year, must conclude with reliving some lovely moments in time, right? Today, I’d like to share with you a few of our favorites from the 2015 Iceland wedding year (Note: We do not post the majority of our Iceland weddings or destination weddings on this blog because we respect the privacy of our high profile clients) but some of our clients love and allow us to share them with you, so let’s look back and delight in those today along with a few of my favorite travel photos!
Enjoy! …and cheers (Skal!) to you and yours as we head into 2016 being our best year yet!
With a smile, Ann Peters (Adventure Wedding Planner and Photographer)
::PS:: Come back again soon to see the EPIC wedding we photographed at the Igloo Hotel in Lapland!
